Lakshmikasu takes its name from the kasu mala, the coin garland worn across South India for generations. Each coin carries an embossed Lakshmi motif, and the coins are set in overlapping rows so the piece moves and catches the light as you do.
The choker sits high on the neck, which is what makes it read as traditional rather than everyday. It was made for a kasavu or a silk saree, and it does the same job at a wedding, a housewarming or a festival morning.
